Visit our three new pages on Brazil, the largest and most populous country in South America.

In Zoom School Brazil, you'll learn about Brazil's flag, animals, map, rainforests, and more, using a pictorial interface.

Discover our page on Pedro Alvares Cabral, the first European to visit Brazil (while on a trip to India). He lost 9 ships out of 13, on a journey fraught with storms and shipwrecks, and he lost 50 men in fighting with Muslim traders who were unwilling to share the lucrative spice routes.

And, on our Brazil Map "Label-Me!" print-out, read the descriptions, then fill in the cities, rivers, and other geographic features.

*** ROBERT GODDARD, ROCKETRY PIONEER ***
Robert Hutchings Goddard, called the father of modern rocketry, was the inventor both of liquid-fuel rockets and of multi-stage solid-fuel rockets. He decided as a teenager to devote his life to making space travel possible. Goddard worked alone and without support for most of his life; neither the U.S. government nor the scientific establishment recognized the importance of his work.
